“Memories buried alive never die”
Dr Rupa Shah had organized three Emotional Freedom Workshops on 18 April, 2 May and 16 May 2015. Here is what happened.
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is an acupressure technique developed by Gary Craig, A Stanford Engineering graduate, to optimize your emotional health or an emotional healing technique. It is also capable of dramatically relieving many physical symptoms. Wikipedia states, “Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is a form of counseling intervention that draws on various theories of alternative medicine including acupuncture, neuro-linguistic programming, energy medicine, and Thought Field Therapy (TFT). It is best known through Gary Craig’s EFT Handbook, published in the late 1990s”.
The Workshop
When the workshop began, Dr Shah guided the participants through the steps of EFT and asked them to recall a past memory or incident that choked them up. While remembering the incident, the participants repeated the EFT steps and were asked to compare the intensity of the response before and after the exercises. Initially, it could take a while, but as the exercises were repeated under the soothing guidance of Dr Rupa Shah, the memories evoked emotions that were overwhelming. Explained Dr Shah, “We often try cope with life by burying unpleasant memories or try to forget about them. But Memories buried alive never die.”
Participants were asked to recall another memory that upset them. Few volunteered to share their memories before and after the exercise, and found that the intensity levels went down dramatically.
- “I’m feeling better”
- “The emotional intensity has reduced”
- “There is less anger”
Save for a couple of regulars, there were new participants across all three batches. The people were new, the memories and experiences unique, but the relief and peace experienced as the workshop progressed was commonly felt by all.
Clearing Mental & Emotional Channels
The workshop empowered people with the tools to positively manage memories and experiences. “We have a unique relationship with ourselves and our bodies,” stressed Dr Shah and EFT can revive and heal this relationship.
“Often, while doing EFT, an old forgotten memory pops up during the exercise. Do not bury it. It is coming to you for a reason. Keep practicing the techniques at home by yourself, post the workshop. Take this technique with you and make it part of your regular life. It becomes more effective with practice and time. If you do it regularly, EFT can help you redefine your relationship with yourself and your family and environment as well.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”535″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” onclick=”link_image”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”537″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” onclick=”link_image”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”536″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” onclick=”link_image”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
