Vietnam’s Supreme Master Ching Hai has announced the award and US$ 20,000 to UP-based Abhay Daanam Bird & Animal Shelter.
Gaurav Jain, who runs Abhay Daanam in Ghaziabad city, was pleasantly surprised to learn about the announcement.
The founder was an animal rights activists and a volunteer with PETA for 10 years and with experience, he realized that birds are often neglected. So, he decided to take up this cause. Soon he started the NGO “Sansthanam Abhay Daanam” in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad.
“It is very encouraging to receive such recognition”, said Jain. ” We can use the funds to buy a second ambulance and help with the construction and expansion of our facility. This way, we can rescue more birds and animals.” The centre employees a staff of 15 and conduct rescues with 1 ambulance. The NGO has established centres in Maharashtra and Sri Lanka as well.
Supreme Master Ching Hai is a vegan spiritual leader and has founded organizations including the Supreme Master Ching Hai International, World Peace Media, Oceans of Love Entertainment and Supreme Master Television.. Through these organization and website ‘suprememastertv.com’, Ching Hai aims to spread her message and support people and organizations who are dedicated towards veganism. Ching Hai is also an author, entrepreneur, and teacher of the Quan Yin Method of meditation. She founded the global restaurant chain ‘Loving Hut’ including one in New Delhi.
