Muthukumar Ramalingan’s debut book ‘Vegan Or You’re Gone’ released at GVBE 2020 highlights the devastation that human activities are causing to the planet like global warming, species extinction, pandemics and world hunger. In the following Foreword by Dr Rupa Shah, she summaries the essence of the book and its powerful message to the world.
It was in July 2019, when I met Muthukumar and Tharang with their wonderful children, Manasa and Manish, at the Vegan India Conference in New Delhi. When I learnt that they had come from Trichy, South India, I was intrigued–What kind of passion would inspire an entire family to travel all this way to meet the vegan community, and that too, with no prior direct connection with any vegan whatsoever!
I chatted with Manasa and Manish–about how they became vegan and inspired their parents to turn vegan as well. It is amazing to know that they are now promoting veganism in such a very big way! Indeed, this is the way forward. When more such families across the globe will go vegan, our world will change forever.
I am very happy to read this wonderfully engaging book by Muthukumar. ‘Vegan Or We’re Gone’ will help create awareness about the compassionate way of life. The chapters are succinct, and each one is about an important topic regarding veganism. The chapters compel us to consider how we can change our way of being–thinking, loving and living. The book has covered almost all aspects of the vegan lifestyle. Veganism is about animals and for animals. It explains why we all can embrace the vegan way of life and that animals are our fellow beings on this planet for our growth and evolution. They are our responsibility to look after and we have to evolve together.
The book is written in a lucid style, and the message is very powerful. One of the highlights is the beautiful artwork that is woven into the book by artist, Manasa, which lends the project with oodles of charm.
I wish all the success to this very beautiful compassionate family and I wish that ‘Vegan Or We’re Gone’ gets translated into many languages across the globe. Anyone who wants to begin their vegan journey should read this little book to be fully aware and inspired about why the world can be vegan.
Best Wishes,
