10 Things you (probably) did not know about The Ahimsa Fest 2020

From a 35,000 sq. feet ground area to a power-packed line-up of fitness experts and activities, The Ahimsa Fest 2020 is all geared up to announce some fresh and bubbling surprises at the venue itself! Here is a peak at some lesser-known developments (hush!). Compassion magazine has spoken to the core team, and they have assured us there are still more surprises waiting to delight all in their goody bag. And we are bursting to give you a peek….

2. Easier Accessibility

Atul Doshi, Co-Founder of the festival said, “We have this time spread the festival across 35,000 sq feet. We have selected this ground after combing options across the city. This time, we are reaching out to more youth and business communities across India.” The festival venue is only 750 metres from Western Express Highway (WEH) metro station; this way its easily accessible by visitors from North and South Mumbai as well.

 

3. Line-Up of Cooking Demos & Food Stalls

This year, the festival features over 50 stalls that will offer live and packed foods. Other highlights include a line-up of cooking demos that will showcase viable and innovative techniques to make clean foods.

 

4. Myth-Busting Health Talk

ER Specialist based in Canada, Dr Tushar Mehta will speak about the myths of a vegan diet. The event is also lined-up with other health experts. Stay tuned for the schedule which will be released on soon on www.theahimsafest.in.

 

5.  Get Fit With Dance & Yoga

Take ready this Sunday for the fitness session by Sudipta Modal at 5PM and a Yoga session by Nikita Solanki at 4.30PM. Both these vegan coaches will show techniques that will power your mind, body and spirit.

 

6. Flex Those Muscles With India’s leading Bodybuilder

Other fitness experts that will be present are Sandeep Kumar, the fastest India marathoner and a leading Indian callisthenics and parkour athlete, Gunjan Sharma. The high note is the presence of Abhishek Thevar, a professional bodybuilder who will engage fitness enthusiasts with a body-building session.

 

7.  Watch Out For ‘Snakes & Ladders’

Saroj Choudhary, co-founder of The Ahimsa festival series said that the festival also aims to enable visitors to learn how to create their own kitchen and home garden. “In our environment stalls, we will show people how to grow the Mayalu or the Malabar spinach. Also, we will be sharing knowledge about bio-enzymes and Hydroponics.” Last time, we had an independent Environment pavilion. This time, we are taking the environment to the mainstream area of the festival. She continued, “We are having an interesting concept called ‘Snakes & Ladders’–we will reveal details at the stalls itself.”

 

8. Get ‘Unleashed’ With Live Music

The live music session includes vegan artistes Shreyas Dharmadhikari and Mridul Verma. Get ready to be transported with their soulful voices this Sunday. Other artistes you can look forward to are Kunal Avanti of popular title, ‘Unleash’ and Daniel Weber, US-based guitarist and business manager.

 

9. Bigger & Better Reach

“We have new business parties participating from across India this time. We want to reach out to youngsters and contribute more towards taking the ahimsa movement forward”, emphasized Atul Doshi.

 

10. Brand Ambassador Kuntal Joisher Dons New Hat

We all know Kuntal Joisher as the first vegan in the world to climb Mt Everest twice. He is also the brand ambassador of The Ahimsa fest for the last 3 years. But did you know that Kuntal is now playing a new role at the festival. He has been very closely involved with the branding and promotions of the website, while dashing off on treks on Sundays as well! This time, he has been penning blogs and rolling out piping hot updates that are buzzing about the fest daily. Kudos to Kuntal and the festival team!
