I have taken a vow of silence for the trillions of suffering, voiceless non-humans, enslaved and tortured, with no one to hear their cries or care about their agony and heartbreak. I stopped speaking from the morning of my birthday, Nov 6, 2017 and will remain completely silent till I am reborn into greater awakening and my higher self tells me it is now time to speak.
I continue to work, communicate, chat and message over social media, WhatsApp and texts. I write notes for people and use gestures, but these inconveniences are insignificant compared to the incomprehensible pain that the sentient beings on this planet are enduring. It is my intent to bring attention and awaken compassion for the suffering of our non-human brothers and sisters, in what is an ongoing genocide of horrific, comprehensible proportions. I’m praying my silence will bring focus to those who don’t have the power to be heard, whose voices are stifled and whose lives desperately need saving.
Since I was 14, I felt I did not belong here on Earth, that it was a heartless, painful place and I wanted to go home, wherever that home was in the sky. When I gave up meat and went vegetarian, that pain only grew and intensified. When I went vegan, that trauma became infinitely more unendurable. It’s very hard to keep going on in a world where we have come so far from our divinity.
The humans still have a voice, they complain, cry and get noticed. The non-humans are voiceless, we don’t see them, we don’t hear them, we don’t care that their butchered bodies and broken dreams are served in obscene elegance on our plates, three times a day.
I’m doing this to promote Veganism as a way of living a compassionate, peaceful life, with kindness in our hearts for every sentient being, so we can have the joyful, loving world we all so achingly long for. I’m doing this to support our ongoing struggle for animal liberation, for every cage to be empty, and for every soul to have the right to live free and loved, without discrimination.
Imagine if we as children were taught to love, cherish and protect innocent non-humans, to think of them as equally deserving of freedom, respect and kindness, do you think we would ever have been able to develop the ability to hate each other as humans, to look at colour, race, religion, sex, shape, inclination, orientation, nationality as issues that divide us? We would be incapable of discriminating. All of you, without exception, have beautiful hearts, please include those that are suffering in your circle of compassion.
Peace begins in our hearts and on our plates. We cannot consume terror and heartbreak thrice a day and still expect the joyful world of our dreams.
Please choose kindness. Please go Vegan. I love you all as I love myself. May you be forever liberated from suffering.
