Circle of health is hosting a Panel Discussion on ‘Health Lessons From A Pandemic’ 10 May 2020. By March 2020, the outbreak has been declared a pandemic in more than a dozen states and union territories, where provisions of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 have been invoked, and educational institutions and many commercial establishments have been shut down. India suspended all tourist visas, as a majority of the confirmed cases were linked to other countries..
On 22 March 2020, India observed a 14-hour voluntary public curfew at the instance of the prime minister Narendra Modi. The government followed it up with lockdowns in 75 districts where COVID-19 cases had occurred as well as all major cities. Later, 24 March, the prime minister ordered a nationwide lockdown for 21 days, affecting the entire 1.3 billion population of India. On 14 April, the prime minister extended the ongoing nationwide lockdown till 3 May.
The Aim Of The Seminar
Nutritionist, Ila Pathak, KB Health stated, “The reason for getting speakers from various healthcare professions on one platform is to provide people with knowledge on how to heal from chronic conditions like obesity, diabetes, hypertension, chronic pulmonary issues etc. This platform will help the speakers to reach out to people and educate them about the above co morbidities which not only hampers the immune system from working optimally but are also responsible for causing maximum fatalities in this pandemic.
And as the world seems frozen in fear, scrambling to understand the nature of the virus, even as the virus has mutated across different regions. Also, patients now show varying symptoms that what was previously observed and reported.
What Will be Discussed
One of the observations are that Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) like heart disease, hypertension and diabetes are major risk factors for developing severe symptoms of COVID-19. NCDs are India’s biggest killers, leading to 63% of deaths. In India, more than 75% of the COVID deaths have been in people with underlying chronic health conditions.
Given this scenario, some of India’s leading healthcare professionals have come together to provide crucial knowledge on healing from chronic health conditions.
Pathak also added, “We will be sharing how to eat right not just during the lockdown but also post. How to make our acquired immunity work at its best and how to stay away from any chronic health conditions and to work towards reversing them if already there. The saying that Food Is Thy Medicine being so true here.”
