Vegan Whole Food Ghee Launched

Health Consultancy, Kitchen Doctor has launched vegan ghee in Mumbai. The launch was following a relentless demand for healthier vegan options in a culture obsessed with dairy.

Kitchen Doctor, a health consultancy, has recently launched vegan ‘Good Ghee’ in Mumbai. Since then, co-founders Dr Rupa Shah and Jinal Rathod have made a series of presentations at seminars across the city and sharing samples of the product at the events.

“The product has been developed after months of careful planning. We had to ensure that it adhered to the required standards in quality and taste that we stand for,” said Dr Rupa Shah, shortly after a city workshop. “Ghee is very popular in a traditional Indian meal, especially in a culture obsessed with dairy. So we decided to give Indians another a cruelty-free option that is healthier and enables better weight management.”

The Ghee Spread Across Asia

Ghee is a fat obtained by heating milk made butter. It is also known as clarified butter and is typically prepared from simmering butter. After heating, it is filtered, poured and processed to form ghee which can later be added with flavours (and forms) and is mainly used in cooking in Asian countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and other Middle-Eastern countries like Turkey, Iran and Syria.

Some market studies estimate the ghee market in India to reach INR 4,653 billion and is growing rapidly. Ghee is such a strong part of the Indian culture that up until a few years ago, many vegans would have to struggle to find delicious dairy alternatives to appease their in laws and extended family members. “But in the past 4-5 years, this is changing. India now can proudly boast of having a few dairy-free ghee options that vegans can look forward to”, said jasmine Popat, a participant who had become vegan 5 years ago.

Whole Food Based On Coconut

Added Jinal Rathod, “Good Ghee is more than just vegan ghee. It is a whole food product made with coconuts and retains that wholesome taste, which is free from any refined process. This is a healthy plant-based good fat, which will not stick to your body. It will instead, balance your weight and help you on your journey towards fitness.”
